Daniel Thwaites PLC Publicly Humiliated

Not only has rick bailey damaged Daniel Thwaites plc reputation by his appalling behaviour he has by association also implicated his in-laws, the Yerburgh family who happen to be its main shareholders

On the 14 April 2022

It all started to go badly wrong back in 2020, to be precise on the 3rd April when their Creditor emailed 2 invoices for payment covering the period 2020 -2021 to Daniel Thwaites PLC Headquarters in Blackburn. Sometime later when payment failed to arrive the Creditor phoned Thwaites Accounts Department and and explained the failure to a female member of staff who insisted on saying the Harts Head Hotel in Giggleswick was not one of Thwaites properties and Daniel Thwaites PLC were therefore not responsible and despite protests to the contrary she quickly terminated the phone call.

Unfortunately around this period the Creditor was really busy and although Thwaites final reminder and Thwaites default notices were published on the Internet Thwaites slipped under the radar and it was not until some 12 months later when the Creditor similarly invoiced Daniel Thwaites for the period 2021 – 2022 that Thwaites defaulted on payment of these invoices as well. The Creditor was now determined not to let them get away with it this time, firstly by replacing the Harts Head Hotel website with a default notice, and secondly by publishing more final reminders and default notices elsewhere on the Internet naming Thwaites as the culprits.

A couple of months passed by and as soon as Daniel Thwaites PLC realised they were being humiliated and attracting unwanted attention they agreed to pay most of the outstanding invoices immediately. The Creditor agreed to accept their offer as the dispute had dragged on for a little over 12 months by now and it had been quite stressful. Their payment also included 2 annual invoices for the previous 12 months and the Creditor agreed to de-activate the 4 unpaid defaulter’s notices on the proviso there would be no repeat of their failure to pay outstanding invoices by the due date in future.

Sadly you can tell by looking at the number of Unpaid invoices below Daniel Thwaites are back to their old tricks but this time matters are a lot worse and it has mainly happened on Richard Bailey's watch who as Thwaites Executive Chairman must also be feeling humiliated by this scandal. It came about when the Creditor contacted him in mid March hoping that as a senior board member at Thwaites he would have their best interests at heart especially as there were just 7 outstanding invoices amounting to £2,090 and 3 defaulter's notices displayed on the Internet at this juncture but, things didn’t work out as intended.

What actually happened was the Creditor wrote two open letters to Richard Bailey, firstly on the 15/03/2022 and secondly the 22/03/2022. Richard Bailey’s only response was an email dated 15/03/2022 at 18:03, it was factually incorrect on several counts, ill thought out, and it all pointed to being a knee jerk reaction. As their Executive Chairman one would have thought that a thorough investigation was called for in these unusual circumstances rather than a quickly cobbled reply on the same day he read the open letter. Nevertheless, sometime later in the absence of a further response from Daniel Thwaites PLC it left the Creditor with little alternative but to carry on incorporating more default notices within Thwaites publicly humiliated network.

Overpriced, lacklustre service, couldn’t use facilities

We had several issues with our stay, all of which would probably have been fine at a cheaper hotel, but were really not up to four star standard. Furthermore could probably have let them go by if any member of staff had shown anything more than grumpy disinterest in our comfort or experience: I received emails telling me to call and book in advance to get a slot in the pool, when I did call I was told only direct bookings could prebook.

Really poor

Lift broken x nobody advised us so mother in law stuck in her room. Receptionist rude x abrupt. Food for a buffet was a disgrace, pretty much inedible. Have emailed General Manager 3 times along with the CEO of Thwaites x not even the courtesy of a reply from either of them, typical of Richard Bailey. If I could would give no stars but can only leave review if you click at least 1.

This place is a joke!

Seriously if you want a shocking evening meal and a rude customer service then this is the place for you. A colleague of mine was waiting 2 hours for his meal and when confronted the manager he was told they was out of steak and is there nothing else he likes off the menu. Seriously for a four star hotel it's a joke the rooms are OK but seriously go somewhere else as this is far from a four star hotel I would class it as a 2 star and thats being generous.

I left Aztec Hotel at 11pm bed was too uncomfortable

Room wasn’t ready on arrival bed wasn’t made up until 5pm! The extra bed was given a single quilt inadequate for a double bed. Room was too small even though I had spoke to property twice about number of guests. Bed was uncomfortable and dangerous has sharp metal down the side. Really bad for children staying in the room.

Very disappointing to say the least

I was looking forward to returning for a Sunday lunch of the highest quality but what I was served fell considerably short. For starters the wife and I shared mussels. I often order mussels as I'm very partial to one from time to time. These were the worst I've ever had the misfortune to eat. Must of been frozen v strange taste. Really really poor. For main I had the lamb rump. At £26 this was quite possibly the most overpriced meal over ever eaten. 3 small tiny fatty pieces of lamb.
